What are the best Exotics for each class in D2?

D2 is filled to the brim with stuff to do, completing every quest in the game and levelling your character is something, but some people have gotten to that point where they want to collect every item in the game. Exotic weapons and exotic armour are the rarest items in the whole game and are one of the best chases as well they are introduced quite often and even recently in the season of Opulence. The exotic armour is different for each class in D2 like the Warlock, Hunter and Titan and can add bonuses like sprint speed or a super energy bonus that helps out quite often. They are completely unique from every other item in the game, however since they are extremely powerful, you are limited to using only 1 at a time, which may sound as a bummer at first, but finding that particular weapon that suits you best is a great feeling. Collecting them all requires quite a bit time, effort and most importantly perseverance. Some are scattered thought different quest lines, while others remain as low-chance rewards for completing specific tasks.

We have handily compiled the full list of all the exotic weapons currently available in D2, you could also say that we have ranked them on their particular use for various activities in the game. To make things easier for everyone, we are going to be compiling them by Type. Without further ado, let us get started at the top, with all the exotic rifles and particularly the Scout Rifles.

Scout Rifles

‘’The Jade Rabbit’’ – You can obtain it as a random reward. ‘’The Fate of all Fools’’ is its exotic perk, where it is advised to chain body shots since it grants bonus damage on your next precision shot and also return ammo to the magazine. As far as rifles go, ‘’The Jade Rabbit’’ is not a very good option. Scout Rifles are generally weaker guns in the game right now, but this exotic also suffers from a slow rate of fire and an exotic perk that is useful in a few special situations.

‘’Skyburner’s Oath’’ – You can obtain it again as a random reward. ‘’Slug Rifle’’ is its exotic perk, basically shooting while aiming down sights you get more damage, thanks to its ammo Solar Slugs. This exotic recently got an update to make its projectiles track targets when you fire from the hip, but even with that tweak, to say it is really weak is an understatement, slow-firing gun that is outclassed by many other weapons in the game.

‘’MIDA Multi-Tool’’ – This one you have to obtain through a quest. Its exotic perk is to boost your movement speed. To those who have played D1, they may remember this particular weapon there and even remember how great it was. However, times were not kind on this one and in the sequel it is just good. Fun to use, but it is outclassed by other kinetic exotic guns.

‘’Polaris Lance’’ – Obtained through a quest. ‘’The Perfect Fifth’’ is its exotic perk, where precision hits actually return ammo to the magazine and landing 4 precision hits loads a delayed Solar explosive round for your next shot. The quest to obtain this scout rifle is long, but it is worth it. Particularly good at taking out smaller enemies, but thanks to its perk of landing multiple precision shots and then loading a big explosive blast, it is useful against bosses too.

Moving onto the Sniper Rifles

  • ‘’Borealis’’ – Obtained as a random reward. ‘’The Fundamentals’’ is its exotic perk, where by holding the reload button, the weapon changes between damage type, Solar, Arc or Void. A great option for taking out lots of the enemies shields, but there way better snipers on the list.

  • ‘’D.A.R.C.I’’ – Obtained as a random reward. ‘’Personal Assistant’’ Is its exotic perk, where by aiming at an enemy, you can view its health and other crucial information on the scope. Useful for taking down stationary targets.

  • ‘’Whisper of the Worm’’ – Obtained through a quest. ‘’White Nail’’ is its exotic perk, where landing three precision hits automatically refills the magazine. One of the best weapons in the game if you know how to use it. You can have unlimited ammo with this weapon, but only if ou can continually land precision shots.

  • ‘’Izanagi’s Burden – Rewarded from Black Armoury (Part of the D2 Forsaken: Annual Pass. ‘’Honed Edge’’ is its exotic perk, where if you hold the reload button it consumes the whole magazine and loads a round with additional range and damage. Versatile as far as sniper rifles go, great for any activity, with its load everything into 1 shot 1 kill bullet.

Continuing to the Automatic Rifles and 1 Kinetic Auto Rifle

  • ‘’Sweet Business’’ – obtained as a random reward. ‘’Payday’’ is its exotic perk, basically you have a larger than normal magazine and increased accuracy when firing from the hip. It is an incredible weapon, but it takes several seconds to rev it up since it is basically a mini-gun. However, once it starts chunking through the magazine, it can erase enemies pretty fast.

  • ‘’Cerberus+1’’ – Obtained as a random reward. ‘’Four-Headed Dog’’ is its exotic perk, where it just shoots from all the barrels at the same time. Since it shoots from 4 barrels, it is normal that its damage is reduced to compensate, but it is fun nonetheless.

  • ‘’Hard Light’’ – Obtained as a random reward. ‘’Volatile Light’’ is its exotic perk, where all bullets fired from this weapon has no damage falloff, over-penetrate targets and ricochet off hard surfaces. ‘’Hard Light’’ can change into any energy type, which is useful for taking down enemy shields.

  • ‘’Suros Regime’’ – Obtained as a random reward. ‘’Suros Legacy’’ is its exotic perk, where when you are left with half of your magazine, each one deals bonus damage and has a chance to return health on kill. A pretty stable rifle, but nowhere near to its former glory in the first D2.

Next up we have the Submachine Guns and 1 Machine Gun.

  • ‘’The Huckleberry’’ – Obtained as a random reward. ‘’Ride the Bull’’ is its exotic perk, where your rate of fire and recoil are increased while holding down the trigger, but with each kill, it reloads a portion of the magazine. One of the best submachine guns in the game, perfect for taking out smaller enemies in quick succession.

  • ‘’Riskrunner’’ – Obtained as a random reward as well as through a Quest. ‘’Arc Conductor’’ is its exotic perk, while taking Arc damage, this weapon becomes more powerful and resists incoming Arc damage and kills even extend the time in this overcharged state. Turning into a real powerhouse when you get hit by arc damage, useful for taking out all kinds of mobs. Overall you could say that with it you get arc ability kills!

  • ‘’Thunderlord’’ – Obtained through a quest. ‘’Reign Havoc’’ is its exotic perk, where killing anything with this weapon makes lightning strikes appear from above. Useful in anything really and can do serious damage to anything, and yes, that includes bosses.

Coming right up are the Fusion and Linear Fusion Rifles.

  • ‘’Merciless’’ – Obtained as a random reward. ‘’Conserve Momentum’’ is its exotic perk, where non-lethal hits with projectiles make this weapon charge faster until its wielder gets a kill. One of the most desirable weapons when D2 first launched, but since then, many weapons have passed in terms of power and time-to-kill. Still very good on bosses.

  • ‘’Telesto’’ – Obtained as a random reward. ‘’Unplanned Reprieve’’ is its exotic perk, where fusion projectiles attach and detonate with a delayed Void blast. Particularly useful when laying traps for opponents since your purple blasts of energy can attach to any surface.

  • ‘’One Thousand Voices’’ – Obtained as a random reward from the end of the Last Wish Raid. ‘’Ahamkara’s Eye’’ is its exotic perk, where you unleash a beam of destruction. It has the ability to destroy just about anything in the game, but difficult to obtain.

  • ‘’Queenbreaker’’ – Obtained as a random reward. ‘’Wire Rifle’’ is its exotic perk, where you fire a long-range precision Arc bold that blinds enemies on hit. With an extremely short charge time, it makes it one of the best rifles in the game.

  • ‘’Arbalest’’ – Obtained as a random reward as well as through the Revelry Event. ‘’Compounding Force’’ is its exotic perk, where it fires a slug that causes massive damage to elemental shields of enemy combatants. Useful in PvE activities mostly.

  • ‘’Sleeper Simulant’’ – Obtained through a Quest. ‘’Dornröschen’’ is its exotic perk, where this weapon’s laser over penetrates enemies and refracts off hard surfaces. It does incredible precision damage and works like a charm in most endgame activities.

Continuing on to the Pulse and Trace Rifles

  • ‘’Vigilance Wing’’ – Obtained as a random reward. ’’Harsh Truths’’ is its exotic perk, when a nearby ally is killed, gain health regeneration and increased movement speed. Fun in most world activities, but very useful in PvP.

  • ‘’Graviton Lance’’ – Obtained as a random reward and through a quest. ‘’Black Hole’’ is its exotic perk, where the second shot of burst does high damage and with no falloff. Great for taking out mobs.

  • ‘’Coldheart’’ – Obtained as a random reward. ‘’Cold Fusion’’ is its exotic perk, where it shoots a steady cold-fusion powered laser. Good for killing off smaller enemies, but extra useful against bosses.

  • ‘’Prometheus Lens’’ – Obtained as a random reward. ‘’Prismatic Inferno’’ is its exotic perk, where it shoots a Solar trace beam and generates a damaging heat field that grows while the weapon continues to fire. Great weapon for almost any activity.

  • ‘’Wavesplitter’’ – Obtained as a random reward. ‘’Harmonic Laser” is its exotic perk, where the laser damage grows in power as much as long as the trigger is held down.

  • ‘’Anarchy’’ – Obtained from Scourge of the Past Raid. ‘’Arc Traps’’ is its exotic perk, where your grenades stick to surfaces and chain Arc bolts to other mines.

  • ‘’Fighting Lion’’ – Obtained through a random reward. ‘’Delayed Gratification’’ is its exotic perk, where the projectiles will bounce off surfaces. Hold the trigger to fire, and release to detonate.

  • ‘’The Wardcliff Coil’’ – Obtained through a random reward. ‘’Mad Scientist’’ is its exotic perk, where this weapon fires a volley of rockets.

To finish up the guns in the game, we are going to end with the Hand Cannons and the Shotguns

  • ‘’Sunshot’’ – Obtained through a random reward and a quest. ‘’Sunburn’’ is its exotic perk, shooting explosive rounds and highlighting targets that take damage.

  • ‘’Sturm’’ – Obtained through a quest. ‘’Accomplice’’ is its exotic perk, where kills with this weapon fill the magazine.
