Teamfight Tactics Patch 9.22 new champions and mechanics

Today we will be taking a look at the crazy patch that Riot Games released and talk about the content that was introduced to it. They implemented quite a bit of changes to the game as well as introduced to Teamfight Tactics almost every champion from League of Legends. This was an absolutely crazy move on their side but was definitely a good decision on their part. The game had been waning for some time and this was exactly the freshness that was needed.

They introduced the new mechanic where you will have an element for the game at random. This means that you will have two randomly placed hexes with Ocean, Inferno, Wind or Mountain buffs in them. They also determine a couple of other things in the game, one being the element of Qiyana and the other being the Dragon.

When you put a champion on either of the elemental hexes, they will receive some kind of a buff. The Ocean one will give them +30 starting mana, the Inferno + 30% attack speed, the Wind + 30% dodge and lastly the Mountain will give the champion +30 permanent HP per round which stacks.

Now let us take a look at the Sets and Origins, the two new ways to differentiate Champions. Starting from this patch they will always be two things which also provide various buffs. The days of Glacial or Noble only are long gone. We will show you all of the Origins first and then move on to the Sets.

Origins:

  1. Desert are Renekton, Sivir, Azir and Kha’Zix – Your enemy’s armor will be reduced

  2. Steel are Rek’Sai and Nocturne – They will get a couple of seconds damage immunity if brought down below 50% health

  3. Poison are Kog’Maw, Dr. Mundo, Twitch and Singed – When they hit a Champion the mana cost for their skills will rise by 50%

  4. Inferno are Diana, Varus, Qiyana, Zyra, Annie, Kindred and Brand – They will burn the ground beneath the enemy and do damage over time to them.

  5. Light are Nasus, Yorick, Soraka, Aatrox, Jax and Vayne – When a Light Champion dies all others will receive an attack speed buff and will heal 25% of their health

  6. Shadow are Malzahar, Master Yi, Sion, Veigar  and Kindred – All your Shadow Champions do increased damage after the start of battle or when they take down an enemy.

  7. Ocean are Vladimir, Thresh, Qiyana, Nautilus, Nami and Syndra – All allied Champions will get Mana Regeneration every 4 seconds.

  8. Woodlands are Maokai, Neeko, LeBlanc and Ivern – Once combat start a copy of one of your Woodland Champions will appear.

  9. Electric are Ornn, Zed and Volibear – They will do AoE shock damage to enemies once they receive or do a critical hit.

  10. Wind are Qiyana, Malphite and Taliyah – All allies will get an increased dodge chance.

  11. Glacial are Volibear, Braum, Ezreal, Olaf and Warwick – All basic attacks from Glacial Champions have a chance to stun the enemy.

  12. Mountain are Taliyah, Malphite and Qiyana – At the start of combat a random ally will get a shield.

  13. Crystal are Skarner, Ashe and Taric – All Cristal Champions only take a certain maximum damage from hits.

Now the other part of the champion characteristics is the Classes that they represent. They are:

  • Summoner are Zyra, Malzahar, Annie, Azir, Zed and Yorick – Summoned units have increased duration and health.

  • Mystic are Master Yi, Nami, Janna and Soraka – All units get increased magic resist.

  • Mage are Veigar, Brand, LeBlanc, Syndra, Vladimir and Taliyah – All mages have a chance to double cast their ability.

  • Alchemist is only Singed – Alchemists will ignore all unit collision and will run around the map.

  • Warden are Malphite, Taric, Braum, Nautilus, Thresh, Ornn and Nasus – All Wardens get increased armor.

  • Druid are Maokai, Ivern and Neeko – All Druids will heal 40HP per second.

  • Berserker are Dr. Mundo, Sion, Olaf, Volibear, Renekton and Jax – Berserkers will jump to the nearest enemy and have a chance to hit all units in a cone in front of them.

  • Assassin are Zed, Diana, Kai’Sa, Akali, LeBlanc, Kha’Zix and Qiyana – All Assassins will leap to the furthest enemy and have increased crit chance and crit damage.

  • Blademaster are Yasuo, Sivir, Aatrox and Master Yi – Blademasters have a percentage chance to do additional attacks.

  • Predator are Kog’Maw, Rek’Sai, Skarner, and Warwich – Once a Predator Champion hits an enemy below 20% health, they will instantly kill them.

  • Avatar is only Lux – The Origin Element is counted twice for trait bonuses.

  • Ranger are Ezreal, Kindred, Ashe, Twitch, Varus and Vayne – Every 3 seconds they have a chance to double their attack speed for 3 seconds.

Enough about the Origins and Classes of the Champions, now let us take a look at all the newly introduced ones and their cost.  One Cost Champions are the ones that we will get to meet the earliest in the game. They have introduced quite a lot of interesting ones. They are Vladimir, Zyra, Kog’Maw, Warwick, Taliyah, Vayne, Ornn, Maokai, Renekton, Ivern and Nasus. A total of 11 Champions that we can choose from!

Two Cost Champions are the next ones, which we will be taking a look at

They are Neeko, Volibear, Thresh, Syndra, Diana, LeBlanc, Jax, Braum, Yasuo, Rek’Sai, Malzahar, Skarner and Varus, which make a total of 13 Champions.

  • Three Cost Champions are Veigar, Kindred, Sivir, Quiyana, Soraka, Sion, Nautilus, Ezreal, Nocturne, Dr. Mundo, Aatrox, Azir and their total is a whopping 12 champions.

  • Four Cost Champions are Annie, Twitch, Janna, Kha’Zix, Malphite, Ashe, Yorick, Olad, Brand which make a total of 9 Champions.

  • Five Cost Champions are up next as they are the second most expensive ones in the roster, while they may not be a lot, their power more than makes up for it. They are Master Yi, Taric, Nami, Zed and Singed up to a total of 5 Champions.

  • Seven Cost Champion is the top of the food chain and is basically the most powerful of them all. The representative of this group is only one for now and that is Lux.

These are the major changes that they included in the game, the balancing of course is still being fleshed out as we might typically expect so many new implementations cannot be perfect. Time will only make everything even better than it is now and we can expect various buffs or nerfs in the upcoming patches. Hopefully the developers at Riot Games will continue introducing new content which will keep us hyped for the game itself.
